Defeat MSA, a 501 (c) (3) Public Non-Profit based in the US, is pleased to announce the official launch of the GLOBAL ONLINE SUPPORT HUB (GOSH), a new free video-chat platform for patients with neurological diseases. The Global Hub is thought to be the first independent video chat platform designed for people with brain diseases like Multiple System Atrophy (MSA).

Multiple system atrophy (MSA), also known as Shy–Drager syndrome, is a rare neuro-degenerative disorder caused by progressive degeneration of neurons in several parts of the brain. MSA impairs the systems that regulate blood pressure, heart rate and the bladder – many of the basic bodily functions that people take for granted every day. People with MSA suffer from dangerously low blood pressure, speech and swallowing difficulties, sleep disturbances, breathing problems, rigidity and tremors.

Prologic Technologies is proud to be associated with DefeatMSA as their Digital Technology solution provider for GLOBAL ONLINE SUPPORT HUB (GOSH) platform. We used Opentok API by TokBox for video calling and text messaging, in both desktop web browser and mobile app (iOS and Android) to create a video group calling feature which is very convenient to use by patients with limited mobility and/or their caregivers, if they need any kind of support. Patients/ Caregivers can RSVP to group meetings in their regional GOSH groups based on their convenient timezones.

GOSH includes a web based portal in addition to free downloadable Apple and Android apps that enables mobility limited patients to privately connect with others, in disease-specific patient groups. The HUB will help patient communities, throughout the world, regardless of the neurological condition, to establish support groups with others in a convenient and secure way. The only requirements for adult patient users will be internet capability, a computer or mobile device and a group moderator who is trained in the basic functions of the hub…  read the full Press Release here
