The client, a thoughtful and passionate entrepreneur, envisioned a space that replicated the warmth, personal curation, and thematic experience of a traditional bookstore, while making it globally accessible through the internet. The platform had to:

  • Integrate seamlessly with major UK suppliers (Gardeners Books) and metadata providers (Nielsen)
  • Offer diverse digital and physical formats for Spanish-themed literature
  • Cater to global buyers while enforcing DRM to respect territory-based distribution laws
  • Provide a personalized and culturally enriching shopping experience

The Opportunity

Books4Spain set out to:

  • Serve as a cultural bridge between Spain and the English-speaking world
  • Partner with the Spanish Embassy Cultural Department to promote Spanish culture through literature
  • Offer seamless shopping and fulfillment via real-time supplier APIs
  • Use “theme-based discovery” as a unique way to browse and explore Spanish literature
  • Support DRM rules and pricing variations by country, format, and language

Our Solution

Prologic Technologies worked in close collaboration with the client and the Spanish Embassy Cultural Department to build an agile, scalable platform. A robust admin panel supported continual updates in content, pricing, themes, and inventory.


We implemented:

  • Live ordering system with Gardeners Books API, including order acknowledgments, ready-to-ship notices, bad order tracking, and dispatch reports
  • Automated metadata sync with Nielsen Books, dynamically updating pricing and availability
  • DRM enforcement using IP tracking and country validation to restrict region-based access
  • Cloud infrastructure with 4GB memory to handle high-load background processes
  • A unique theme-based navigation system for culturally immersive book discovery
  • Format flexibility for PDFs, Adobe Editions, audiobooks, DVDs, paperbacks, and more
  • Smart shipping logic that calculated the most cost-effective delivery options per country
